Easter Sunrise Service in Bend Oregon: April 5, 2015 at 6:30 am
Everyone who wishes to join in the celebration of Christ’s resurrection is welcome to attend this non-denominational gathering atop Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint.
The service will begin with singing and be followed by a brief Easter message shared by Bob Shaw who is well in Bend as the NewsChannel 21 Chief Meteorologist / Community Affairs Director. The service will conclude with a few additional songs around 7:00 am.
Parking and the Hike
The primary parking will be at the Pilot Butte Neighborhood Park Eastside Parking Lot but guests are invited to walk in from all of the available park access points.
Plan on arriving early enough so you will have plenty of time to hike to the top of the butte for the start of the service at 6:30 am. As you hike please protect the park’s natural resources by staying on established trails or walking on the side of the paved access road.
To access the parking lot from Highway 20: turn on to NE Azure Drive, turn left on NE Savannah Drive and left again on NE Linnea Drive
Expect the morning to be quite cold, so dress appropriately and feel free to bring your own coffee or hot chocolate. A flashlight is recommended for the early morning hike up the hill. No chairs will be provided, but you can bring your own blanket or folding chair if that would make it more comfortable.
Dogs on leash are welcome at Pilot Butte State Scenic Viewpoint.
